Saving Animals New Mexico

The mission of Saving Animals New Mexico is to reduce companion animal overpopulation in New Mexico by providing spay/neuter services, especially for underserved animal populations and animals living in income-qualifying households.

Free Spays and Neuters for Pit Bulls at Espanola Valley Humane Society

If you have a pit bull and live in Rio Arriba County, your dog can receive a free spay or neuter at the Española Valley Humane Society. Advance appointments are required and can be scheduled by calling (505) 753-8662, ext. 0. Appointments will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.

“Almost 200 pit bulls and pit mixes came into our shelter during 2008. Sadly they are much less likely to be adopted and more likely to be euthanized than other dogs,” said Bridget Lindquist, Executive Director of the Española Valley Humane Society. “We hope this free offer will encourage people to have their pit bulls spayed or neutered and reduce the number of unwanted puppies born in our community.”

The program is sponsored by Saving Animals New Mexico, a new non-profit organization dedicated to reducing companion animal overpopulation in our state. This is the group’s first project, funded through a generous grant from the Summerlee Foundation.

The Española Valley Humane Society is located at 108 Hamm Parkway in Española. For more information, visit: www.evalleyshelter.org or check out our flyer.
